Latrice Commons started the brand and company, Pretti Genius in the summer of 2012, in St. Louis, MO. Out of frustration of being tired of spending tons of money on swimwear that does not flatter the today’s real woman, Latrice came up with the idea of making her own swimwear collection. Clueless of the fundamentals needed to execute both a flattering yet effortless swimsuit, a decision was made to at least attempt to make one. She wanted to make a garment that could redefine what real women want. A swimsuit that looks and feels expensive and addresses problem areas that often prevents us from showing off our beautiful bodies. After hours of relentless trial & error, lots of research, and sewing by hand with no experience, the first beautiful white light weight swimsuit was finally made by Ms. Commons. On that hot summer night, Latrice thought to herself that she was pretty smart with coming up with the perfect swimsuit. She decided to name her brand of swimsuit wear, Pretti Genius.
